Tent Camping at March Moto Madness
20 years ago Kevin, Dan, Don and a few friends strapped their camping gear on their motorcycles, went camping in the forest and March Moto Madness was born.
We’ve all gotten a bit older, most of our kids are launched and with age those RVs, travel trailers and box vans start to look very appealing. Apparently many of our peers agree but we’ll never forget how much fun we were able to have together for very little money.
We’re somewhat dismayed by the big rallies that charge an arm and a leg for a spot of ground for a tent, more if you travel a distance by truck with the bike in the bed and yet even more if you bring equipment to sleep in. What used to be an affordable weekend can run over $500 before any food and that 3rd day of the rally? You better be off the property by noon.
The vibe? Built by corporate, highlighting influencers and social media stars.
We’re different.
The TOAD has designated the south field as “nylon only by three wheels or less.” We’re shooting for the old school rally experience in the back with the full featured rally in the front. A social mullet if you will and thanks to the sponsor of the field, Moto Camp Nerd, we’re able to price the nylon only ticket at $140.00 for Thursday to Sunday.
This does come with some rules which we hope you’ll respect. We don’t like having a lot of rules but based on some of the questions we fear a lot of folks either don’t understand or are trying to game us to save a few bucks which makes us sad. We will be enforcing this at the gate, which we’re not terribly excited about. Please do not try to pull a fast one on the TOAD.
-
The south field is for tents, hammocks and if you’re bold a ground cloth and blanket. No trucks, no car camping, no trailers and no RV’s will be allowed on the south field.
-
Absolutely 100% NO GENERATORS. Turn on one and you might find out what sugar does to gasoline.
-
To qualify for the nylon only discounted rate you must arrive on your motorcycle with your camping gear. NO EXCPETIONS.
-
Tent campers can set up their tent anywhere on the property they wish, except for the area around the residence.
-
Riders may be allowed to enter the south field with a vehicle to unload gear before 4pm on Thursday. No vehicel entry will be allowed after this time. If you leave your vehicle on the field the next person to ask to unload will watch us point to your rig and explain why we’re keeping them from being you. Then we’ll get the tractor and remove it. Got it?
